You have already met this stately bird in an earlier post, titled Instagram pic "The early bird gets the rabbit. " This is one of those better shots I referred to in that post and promised to publish. I was actually about 300 yards away from him when I took this shot with my 18 x zoom lens. It's hard to get much closer than that without spooking him and missing getting any shot at all. He watches me with a hawkeye, lol, and if I get too close he swoops down and is gone before I can change my camera settings. Someday I'll preset my camera for moving targets and spook him on purpose so that maybe I can get a good shot of him in flight. I have two blurry ones, but I'm not settling for them, so stay tuned. It would be a dream to be able to catch an image of him with his prey in his talons but I'm not holding my breath.
