I've been playing with some symmetry lately and this is one of my favorite results to date... And with the Ansel filter, perfect!
Ok I'm starting to get attached to this Ansel bw filter that is built in to this weebly app! I posted this shot on my Instagram feed the other day in color with a vintage wash filter called "1977" and I really liked it! But look at how cool the Ansel filter makes it look too! Excellent, if I do say so myself!
I was playing around with the built in weebly filters, there are five of them, to see what they were like since I've never used them before, and for the most part I probably won't use them much. But I stumbled across this combination which I really like! The black and white filter is called "Ansel" and was too dark for every other photo I tried it with, but with this one it makes a dramatic contrast with the lensflare... This is the original iPhone shot of an Instagram that I have posted in both color and black and white and used as an entry to an "excellent lensflare" challenge recently... So I'm glad I was messing around tonight and maybe I'll find another occasion to use this filter soon.
Here's another example of why I love Instagram filters! This is the "toaster" filter and it's awesome! I love the fine art oil painting texture and golden pink tones it adds to a photo! Now I don't use it too often but when I do I always wonder why not?
Here is my regular black and white post... It is an Instagram from about 15 weeks ago... A stand of cottonwoods at the south boundary of our property where I used to go to gather firewood before we found a reliable source to buy it from. Ah the homesteader lifestyle, modern day pioneers a couple hundred years out of step with the times... Yet somehow managing to live a little bit in both worlds! Just call me a rustic geek! LOL!
As a follow up to my last post... I'd like to present this reminder that not all change is bad... Out of every tragedy come positive change, and fresh perspectives! And if God takes care of the little things with such detail, He surely will work all things in our lives for the good!
The theme of the month in my life right now seems to be change... So here's an appropriate photo to fit the theme! While I won't go into any details, I can share this lesson that life has been teaching me...
The only thing that stays the same is... Everything changes!
This photo tells how my soul feels today because today my husbands 98 year old grandmama went to heaven to meet the Lord Jesus... She was a beautiful and sweet lady that I loved as if she were my own, and I will miss her so much! But it's been a hard year for her since she fell in April and broke her hip. It never did heal and the doctors thought her heart too weak to endure a surgery so she was in assisted living all year and she put up a good fight! But by winter she got tired of fighting and since all she ever really wanted was to go home... Today that is what she did! Her everlasting home and a huge family reunion! She's never been more alive than she is right now singing praises to Jesus and dancing with granddaddy! But for those of us who must stay behind it is a mixed and turmoiled emotional time... Like these clouds kind of dark and stormy and at the same time kind of soft and beautiful fragile...
2 Corinthians 5:6-8 (KJV)
Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say , and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
I thought I'd post something a bit different today... I must have cabin fever because my small collection of travel photos and drive by shots are really appealing to me today... this is a shot I took from the back of the Harley while driving through Red Rock Canyon near Hinton Oklahoma, with my old Nokia cell phone camera... Lol! At the time I was trying to talk my mom into moving closer to me from out west and thought pix of our beautiful scenery would do the trick! This awesome little canyon is only a short 15 min drive from our place and we frequent it often! For as tiny as it is, it rivals any canyon I've ever seen, and I've been all over the country and to the Grand canyon twice! Of course redrock is a much smaller scale but every bit as pretty! Especially in spring when the redbuds are in bloom! Enjoy!
This will be short and sweet today... It's January 12, 2013 and I'm ready to see this in my sky again! Canadian geese heading north, a sure sign that winter is ending! Probably not gonna happen today but you can't blame me for wishing!
As promised, here is another black and white from my Instagram gallery! I was curious how a bug macro would look in bnw so I used this version in a foursome challenge recently... The original color version got a feature on @kreepy_kritters page too! You igers can see that version on my Instagram page...some future post here I will feature more of my features...lol!
I am also kind of proud of this shot because it is an iPhone macro without the benefit of an olloclip... The hardest kind of macro shot there is! For those of you not familiar with iPhone photography, an olloclip is a clipon macro lens made just for iPhone cameras that allows really awesome macro photography! Some of the olloclip shots I've seen on Instagram are truly amazing! But this is not one of them! And the color version that got featured on kreepy kritters was chosen from among olloclip shots and DLSR macros as well! So I can't help wanting to show it off a little bit...
These challenges are one of my favorite things about Instagram and also part of the reason why I have stayed there instead of moving to another photo sharing platform like so many other former igers did. Various igers are always coming up with cool ideas for new challenges and tagging each other to spread the fun! These two collages are examples of what I'm talking about... The first foursome is "4timesdope" my four most liked pictures to date, the second foursome is "the forgotten four" 4 pics that I thought would be really popular but they weren't... Lol! This is part of why Instagram is so fun and I love it so much! It stretches you out of your comfort zone and helps you grow... While at the same time you connect with lots of people who have the same passion as you do! Oh yeah and the instant feedback is very addictive!! Fair warning!!!
This is one of the shots I took down off my Instagram feed when the whole terms of service hubbub started last month.. It is an example of my original style that got me some attention early in my IG experience! And this is one of my favorite "cloudporn" shots taken with my iphone4, which by the way is a pretty awesome little camera as well! But anyway I was trying to decide whether to repost this on IG or here and I think here is the winnah!! Lol
I just felt like posting something in bnw today, maybe because it's kind of a cold and dreary winter day here in Oklahoma. I have been posting a lot of black and whites on my Instagram gallery and realized that I have very few posted here, so in the future I may try to do a weekly bnw post from my IG gallery. Gee it's only January and already I have the winter blues... Sigh!
I found this adorable little inch worm last spring and was totally fascinated by his fancy set of horns and cute little face! He seemed to like me as much as I liked him because he crawled all over me and let me take at least 20 really great shots of him. Back then I hadn't practiced much macro photography so it was nice having a willing subject to help me hone my skills... I haven't seen another worm like him since then so I'm glad I got so many good shots of this unusual little guy! You will see more of him in the future...
