I'm so looking forward to wildflower season this year that I can't wait... So here is my preview of things to come, courtesy of last years left overs! Enjoy!
This is a tangled fx refurb of one of my older Instagram posts... I really like how it turned out! Hope you do too!
As I said in an earlier post here, the only thing I ever wanted to be when I "grew up" is an artist... And in case you hadn't guessed Vincent van Gogh is my most favorite of the masters. Back when I used to dabble in acrylic painting, I was developing my style from a loose interpretation of Vincent's finger-paint look that was so distinctive to him... Then life circumstances forced me to put that on a back burner and my creativity got pent up.. So when I was introduced to photography and mobile photo editing apps my artistic creativity exploded! Lol! And now I have discovered this "tangledfx" app that can make some of my photos look like a Van Gogh painting, well fair warning! Prepare to see some! I'll try not to overdo it but it won't be easy! Imma wanna be a virtual Van Gogh!
I have recently been experimenting with different photo editing styles and the latest app I've been playing with is called tangled fx... This app produces a variety of extreme results that range from artsy to just plain creepy.., I love it and it's going to be an effort not to use it on all my photos! But anyway I really liked the final result with this photo which started out as fall cottonwood leaves yellow against a blue sky... Then I converted it to a bw in snapseed with a retrolux light leak filter... Then posted it to Instagram and put a Hudson filter on it... Finally ran it thru tangled fx in small detail mode and this is what I ended up with! Lots of fun editing photos with mobile apps! Now how do I get a paid for it?
This is one of my favorite ways of getting new shots... While riding in the pickup on the way to wherever, I hold my iPhone up to the window and snap a bunch of pics as we whiz by at 70 + mph! Then I get home, crop the good ones and edit as needed... And this is a good example of how they turn out when I'm finished !
I post these kind of shots on Instagram under the hashtags #drivebyshot and #drivebyartist...
And I dont mean to seem like I'm bragging but I was also surprised this week with the most highly coveted feature of all in the jj community! My "Honeycomb" abstract photo was chosen by @joshjohnson for a solo full page feature on his account in the "Soft abstract" forum... And as the image used to introduce the next day's theme which was rhythmic abstracts! Yeehaw! I was very excited, honored and truly surprised to get this feature! It really does come with bragging rights, but I am mainly thankful to add it to my collection! I may not get another but I got this one! Yay!
I also want to add that both of my last two features from jj were submitted to #altexpo #jj_alt_10 per info @althotels.ca/altexpo for their altexpo2013 mural project... And will be appearing somewhere in that mural...along with many amazing images chosen from the thousands of images submitted throughout the month of March by the jj community! I have been a jj regular for months but this project and these latest jj special features I've received have really made me feel that I am a true member of the jj community! So pardon my shameless self promotion and promo for the jj community too but it is the most exciting, challenging and inspiring forum that I have found on Instagram so far! I've made many good friends through the jj forums and I know I've grown and stretched in ways I never would have if not for the challenges presented by the daily themes! Really love being a part of jj community!
My Instagram photo "Sierra sky" was featured last week on @joshjohson's tagitjj.com blog site @tumblr. It's a new format for featuring some of his favorite shots from the daily jj forums on Instagram and I must say I was excited and honored to have one of mine chosen from the "Big Sky" forum! It was my first feature that Josh picked himself and I am pleased to add it to my collection, and document it here!
Spring like temperatures are finally in our forecast for this week and the little "zebras" are happy campers! I must say I am too! Now maybe I'll have a chance to get some fresh shots of the winter birds before they go back to wherever they spend the summer... And I'm hoping for another great shot of Canadian honkers heading back north! Wish me luck!

I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to this sight in my yard again! I know it hasn't been a terribly cold winter this year but it seems to be never ending... Thank God it isn't really!
I just realized that I had the same butterfly shot posted twice... So here is the new one to go with this caption, oops!!
This is a new Ansel filter twist on an old Instagram shot that I originally posted on my Instagram page about 27 weeks ago... I am revamping my IG page and will be moving certain selections here with a new edit to spruce them up a bit... I like this version much better than the original!!
I thought I'd show off a little bit today. I recently was honored with a feature by Through Dreams we Fly... Which is a hashtag created by the very talented Susan Blanda. It is a place she made with the vision of inspiring each other through images and words... I was humbled to be featured by this special lady, and wanted to document it here.
Here is the full size image that was featured...
