How to stir things up on your social media.
Is your social media activity in a slump? Did you know you have the power to pick up and set the pace? It's true and it is easy! I just takes a little time and effort on your part.
When things slow to a stand still on your social media, whether it be Twitter, Facebook, Google+ or whatever, just start liking and sharing other peoples posts and tweets and watch the activity levels increase. If people seem to be disengaged then engage them. You draw attention to yourself by paying attention to them. Once they notice you, hopefully they will be curious as to who you are and check out some of your content or links and maybe even share them.
Another sure fire way to attract attention is by "featuring" people. If you have a blog or page or website, write a short promotional piece and share a link to someone else's work that you admire. This works especially well with artists and photographers but you could also include authors and poets etc... A word of caution here... Don't share their photos or art without their permission unless you can do it with share buttons that give proper credit and indicate that they don't mind you sharing it. NEVER!!! Never copy and paste, that is stealing. Always respect copyrights and intellectual property rights. If you are going to promote someone and you can't use built in share buttons only share links to their work, and if in doubt ask them first.
Certain social media sites lend themselves to sharing more than others but if you are creative you can come up with cool ways to promote others and draw attention to yourself. I call this passive self promoting, and it works great on Instagram,Twitter and on Google +. So the next time your social media outlets stagnate, stir things up.
